Streaming media company Bitmovin has announced a partnership with video solution provider Switch Media to add the Bitmovin Video Player to its MediaHQ product suite.

The company says that the integration will enable Switch Media to offer content providers the ability to deliver quality video content to any network or device at scale.

The first product to market using the Bitmovin Player technology is Freeview Australia’s Freeview FV Web. The product enables viewers across Australia to watch and plan all free-to-air TV, or access on-demand shows using their online browsers.

Luke Durham, CTO at Switch Media said: “In a world where video is everywhere, being able to create differentiated, high-quality services is absolutely crucial for broadcasters, publishers and social media companies. Working with Bitmovin enables us to offer the best solution for each scenario, safe in the knowledge that the player our clients use will always support the latest streaming formats, devices and platforms. This way, we can strive to make the audience experience of the world-class standard our clients expect.”

Stefan Lederer, CEO at Bitmovin added: “With an average of 6.6 screens per home in Australia alone, the industry is far beyond needing to offer a great experience on a limited number of platforms. Instead, the default is to design video services that can run on all platforms at once.

“The addition of our Video Player to Switch Media’s portfolio means that its customers will be able to launch video solutions that run on any platform, any network and any device.”
